Launching of Recovery and Wellness Program for Person Who Used Drugs (PWUDs)

On November 8, 2019 the Philippine National Police of Aleosan conducted a Recovery and Wellness Program for the drug surrenderees, a follow-through program under current administration`s, War-on-Drugs Campaign with the theme “LIGA AT PAGPAPAHUSAY NG MORAL PARA SA PAGBABAGO”.

Rationale: Basketball League will show the skills and strategies that the Person Who Used Drugs (PWUDs) and will now bring them all together and utilize them. It helps the PWUDs to learn about team work, leadership, and sportsmanship. This is a way to get PWUDs active in sports and detoxification from using illegal drugs, especially now that there`s an aggressive campaign getting everybody out of illegal drugs.

The PNP-Aleosan`s objective is to encourage, facilitate & enable the Person Who Used Drugs (PWUDs) to participate in sports specifically basketball. To promote camaraderie and teamwork among PWUDs and bring them back to the community to show that they are now renewed and not using illegal drugs.

The participants had been clustered into 6 groups, with the following barangay PWUDs:

  • Cluster 1 – Barangay Pagangan, Bagolibas & San Mateo
  • Cluster 2 – Barangay Malapang, Lower Mingading & Tomado
  • Cluster 3 – Barangay Upper Mingading, Katalicanan & Sta. Cruz
  • Cluster 4 – Barangay Palacat, Pentil & Lawili
  • Cluster 5 – Barangay New Panay & New Leon
  • Cluster 6 – Barangay Dualing, Dunguan & Tapodoc

The program will hold an 8-game basketball league every Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 NN until November 29, 2019. The source of fund is from the Local Government Unit of Aleosan with the amount of P 20,000.00 for the whole duration of the said activity.

27th National Children`s Month Launching Program

Theme: “Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan”

The Municipality of Aleosan launched the 27th National Children`s Month with the theme “Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan.” on November 5, 2019, as spearheaded by the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children of Aleosan and Municipal Mayor – Vicente C. Sorupia, Jr.

The activity started with a parade at 7:00 A.M. from the Municipal Public Market to the Municipal Covered Court with the following participants from:

  1. Supreme Student Government, Faculty and Staff of Aleosan National High School, Dualing High School, Katalicanan High School, Pagangan High School
  2. Supreme Pupil Government, Faculty and Staff of Lawili Elementary School, Aleosan Central Elementary School, Tomado Elementary School, Malapang Elementary School, Dunguan Elementary School, Katalicanan Elementary School, New Panay Elementary School, Dualing Elementary School
  3. Bureau of Fire Protection
  4. Philippine National Police
  5. Sangguniang Bayan Members
  6. Municipal Council for the Protection of Children of Aleosan
  7. Child Development Workers (formerly known as Day Care Workers)
  8. Barangay Officials of Aleosan

At the Municipal Covered Court, the celebration proceeded to a Zumba Dance and then continued with an opening program in which Vicente C. Sorupia, Jr., the Municipal Mayor gave a welcoming address and his message to the participants.

The program ended with symposium from the different offices; SSgt. Nechel Castillo from Philippine National Police (PNP) gave a presentation about Child Abuse; Noel B. Epanto from Municipal Disaster Risk and Management Office demonstrated the Disaster Management and Drills; PESO-DOLE Joemie Pascasio reminded about Child Labor; Arthur Camancho from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resource Office expressed the importance of sanitation and the love for the environment; Personnel from Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) showed the fire safety drill; the Rural Health Unit of Aleosan gave advise on how to prevent having HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) and Vincent Sorupia, SWO II from Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and Focal Person of the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children reminded the participants about the rights of the children and social responsibilities as a parent/guardian.

37th Founding Anniversary of Aleosan

The preparations for the upcoming 37th Founding Anniversary of Aleosan Municipality is in full swing. The theme for the celebration this year is “Pagkakaisa Tungo sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran.”

Among those to watch out for are the activities laid down by the local government of Aleosan.

The private sector also played a vital role in developing the program of activities for the 37th founding anniversary of the town of Aleosan.

One to look forward at the annual anniversary is the “Kite Festival”. Also featured during the celebration are street party, agri-trade fair, local products and arts festivals, sporting events and much more.
